It’s getting real!

I was prompted by Air France to check in for our flight earlier this afternoon. So, I did and we now have our digital boarding passes. I am still in the process of packing but as our flight is not till Monday afternoon, I think we’ll be okay.

Here’s the general plan:

Peter and I are flying into Paris. We are going to spend 2 days there before picking up our leased car and heading to Marbach to spend some time with Nico and the family. This will be Peter’s first visit in decades and it will be nice to spend time with the relatives. It will be my first real visit to Germany. A stopover in Frankfurt doesn’t quite cut it, does it?

After a week, give or take a day, we are taking off with Nico to drive the Grossglockner High Alpine Road (in German Großglockner Hochalpenstrasse), the highest surfaced mountain pass road in Austria. We’ll aim for the Silvretta Pass as well if it’s open. It usually opens in mid-June so we might be too early to drive it. We are going to spend a couple of days in the Lake Constance area before heading back to Nico‘s for a couple of nights. After that, we are going to make our leisurely way back to Paris for our flight home. Along the way, we will be driving through Switzerland, Italy, Monaco and the south of France.

I will do my best to provide updates through this blog. I don’t want to be guilty, again, of clogging up WhatsApp accounts. No guarantees, but I will try to post as much as I can.

Apropos of nothing - here’s a photo of the giant maiden grass in our backyard. I think most of the grass will be taller than the fence by the time we come home. There are at least 3 varieties of giant maiden grass planted along the fence.  I’ll post a photo after we get home to see how tall they got.
